Vegan French Toast

Made with everyday ingredients, every indulgent and buttery bite tastes like the French toast you grew up with. Treat yourself to this fluffy, crispy, and rich brunch favorite!

– Soft white bread – Sandwich bread – Silken tofu – Soy milk – Vegan butter  – Brown sugar – Ground cinnamon – Grated nutmeg – Orange zest – Vanilla extract – Sea salt – Kala namak – Arrowroot powder – High-heat oil – Pure maple syrup

Ingredients

STEP 1

First, lay the slices of fresh bakery bread OR sliced sandwich bread on a wire rack on top of a baking sheet. Toast in the oven until the slices feel lightly toasted.

STEP 2

Make the batter by blending the tofu, soy milk, melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, salt, and orange zest in a blender or food processor until smooth. Pour the batter into a baking pan.

STEP 3

Heat some vegan butter and oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Once the pan is almost hot and the butter stops foaming, add two slices of bread to the pan with the batter and cook. Flip the bread and finish cooking.

STEP 4

Transfer the cooked French toast to a sheet pan in the oven to stay warm. Serve warm with a pat of vegan butter and maple syrup on top, or berries and whipped topping. Enjoy!
