What is the RPL Recipe Club?

Each month, I’ll choose one Rainbow Plant Life recipe that anyone in the RPL community can choose to make. 

You can make it just for fun OR you can enter to win an amazing prize each month! This month’s prize is listed below.

How to participate:

Participating couldn’t be easier! Just follow these steps:

  • Sign up for the Rainbow Plant Life newsletter (only newsletter subscribers are eligible to win the monthly prize, though you can of course still participate without being signed up).
  • Make this month’s recipe, take a picture of it, and email it to me at contest@rainbowplantlife.com with the subject line “Recipe Club” by 11:59pm on December 30th. By sending your picture in via email, you’ll be entered to win a prize. 

At the end of each month, we will randomly select a winner and share our favorite photos here!

    December 2023 Recipe: Vegan Chili!

    There’s nothing quite like a bowl of my hearty vegan chili on a cold winter night! It’s rich and velvety and hits the spot like a cozy hug in a bowl.

    What sets this bean chili apart from others is a homemade chili powder and five secret techniques that teach you to layer numerous unique ingredients, resulting in its complex taste profile. And for those of you who prefer meaty chilis, I’ve included instructions on how to incorporate vegan ground meat into this recipe!

    This chili is one of my favorite cold-weather comfort meals, and it also happens to be nut-free and easy to make gluten-free! Load it up with vegan sour cream, cilantro, tangy pickled onions, crispy tortilla chips, and more. A spoon of my vegan queso and a warm slice of my vegan cornbread are two of my favorite additions.

    The Best Vegan Chili

    This vegan chili is incredibly rich and velvety and packed with layers of complex flavor, just like a classic chili should be. An easy homemade chili powder and slow simmering take this bean chili over the top.

    If you’ve seen my YouTube videos over the past year, you know I’m a huge fan of aprons from Hedley & Bennett. They’re comfy, stylish, and made to last!

    I also picked up one of their chef’s knives recently and it’s been getting a ton of use in the past few months. It’s nicely weighted, razor sharp, and they have lots of fun colors (I have both the green one and the blue one).

    A note for international readers: Due to the exorbitant cost of international shipping, we can only ship the above prize within the 48 contiguous United States. However, you can still enter to win if you live elsewhere. If your entry is selected as the winner, we’ll send you a payment of $100 in lieu of the prize. Payment will be sent via PayPal.

    Can I make modifications to the recipe and still enter?

    Absolutely! But your entry won’t count if you use any kind of animal product – Rainbow Plant Life is a vegan blog, after all!

    How old do I need to be to participate?

    You must be at least 18 years old to participate.

    I don’t live in the United States. Can I still enter?

    Yes! You can still enter the monthly contest, with a caveat.

    How is the winner chosen? 

    We’ll choose the winner at random (based on email entries). The quality of your photography is not a factor but we encourage you to try to make your photos look nice anyways!

        Hi Pamela, we discontinued RPL recipe club for the time being. We now have a new endeavor: RPL meal plans!

      Five Stars! This recipe was fantastic. I actually got the peppers and made my own chile pepper and what a difference it made! My husband is not a fan of spicy food but after he got over the initial shock of the heat he and my children ate it all. It had an authentic deep and satisfying flavor like no other chili we ever had. This is the only chili recipe I will ever use. I can’t believe I could make something so good!

      Got the email for this and immediately went to the store for ingredients! My friends and I absolutely loved it. Nice and spicy and flavorful. And there wasn’t a crumb of cornbread left over!
